Grain Donation Opportunity to Support the "Gilbert Community Garden"

10/01/2015 - 03/01/2016
Grain Collection Co-Op Locations: Gilbert, Nevada, Kelley, Story City, & S14 (Roland)

For 22 years the Gilbert Education Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, has been working hard to raise funds for the Gilbert Schools to make the Gilbert District a unique and special place to learn.

The Foundation and its members have been influential in many educational projects and purchases that have taken Gilbert to the next level in their educational goals.  This is our 3rd year for our annual grain fundraiser to benefit the Gilbert VoAg/FFA Community Garden.  It has been a great fundraiser with area farmers donating over 600 bushels of corn & beans, along with $500 in cash donations. The funds raised supported the infrastructure for the Community Garden.  The community garden, with the help of Gilbert Students, has produced pounds & pounds of produce which is donated to the local food pantry each year.

The purpose of this letter is to ask you to consider making a contribution to the Gilbert Education Foundation through a donation of grain this fall.  We are once again working with the Key Cooperative to make this opportunity available to the area farmers and to make it very easy.  It would mean so much to the students of Gilbert.  The funds raised from your generous grain donation would go towards the Gilbert VoAg/FFA “Community Garden”.  This year the community garden, with the help of Gilbert students, produced over 1,000 pounds of produce & 136 dozen ears of sweetcorn, which were donated to the local food pantry.

I hope you will accept this invitation to join us in enhancing the quality of education in the Gilbert School District by a grain donation.  When you contribute to the Gilbert Education Foundation, you invest in the future of the Gilbert Schools and their students.

Here are the details for donating grain……..Deliver grain to your local Key Cooperative and designate # of bushels to be donated to the Gilbert FFA/Foundation account.  The grain will be stored through March of 2016 at the Key Cooperative in order for the Vo-Ag/FFA students to market the bushels.

For those that do not have bushels to donate, but are interested in supporting this project, please send your check to the Gilbert Education Foundation –  103 Mathews Drive, Gilbert, earmarked for Gilbert VoAg/FFA Community Garden.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 22 years of the Gilbert Education Foundation!  If you have any questions, please contact Shele Blum at gilbertfoundation.ia@gmail.com.

Gratefully,

The Gilbert Education Foundation & Gilbert VoAg/FFA
