Kirk Geist

Kirk Geist has been a Gilbert resident since 1979. He has been involved in building materials sale and sales management for over 30 years. Prior to that he spent 18 years in technical sales representing Dow Chemical building products in eight Midwestern states. As a lifelong proponent of energy efficiency, he has served on various boards and committees including a two year term on the Governors Green Advisory Council. Supporting the building industry, Geist has served as a board member and president of the Ames Home Builders Association. He is currently on the Home Builders Association of Iowa Board of Directors, Executive Board and serves as State Membership Director.

Kirk's greatest claim to fame and achievement has been "yes, I'm Mrs. Geist husband". Pauline spent 32 of her 40 years in education at Gilbert Elementary thrilling several generations of kindergarteners with Animal Island. Their two daughters are Gilbert graduates. Kristen Geist is currently teaching 8th grade language arts and coaching cross country in Ankeny. Kelly Geist Johnson is a neonatal transport nurse with Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.

Geist is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Education and comes from a family that boasts 8 current or retired educators. Swimming and golf are his two greatest interests with watching volleyball at all levels a close third. Hecklers are invited when he line judges Gilbert home games.
